part 2

Considered more in depth, it is eminently clear that modern man has the duty and responsibility to take charge of his life and his work, which, perhaps in ways never seen before, has yet to be studied and reflected upon in order to draw closer to that ever-present mystery of mankind.

As Jacques Maritain once pointed out, what is needed here and now is a “profound renewal of the interior energies of conscience.” In order to faciliate this initiative, I have decided to offer reflections on the issues that are most dear to the Church, to which, in turn, man is very dear.

At this ever-widening moment within the mystery of time, the horizontal perspectives of the inner dymanics of the modern world have only partially been realized. Indeed, the panorama of the modern consciousness requires that we extrapolate developments that are more conscious of and ever more consistent with the contemporary attitudes and lifestyles of civilization. Only then can the human experience become ever more human, and the meaning of life find its truest expression in the more fully understood mystery of man.

However, not all the aspects of this undertaking are clear. The question of renewal is one that is most imperative to be examined at this point.

Our society is largely unaware of the mystery of iniquity, which constantly renews itself, in always new ways, through various media – and here I am thinking particularly of video games and of television, but also of radio, electric toothbrushes, and microwave ovens.

….Finally, renewal itself must be renewed. In order for renewal to be ever-renewing, in its deepest sense, man must, utilizing the profound tools of responsible conversation and development, realize the changes undergoing even the very essence of renewal, which is, in a sense, akin to the ever-developing urgency of restoration that man sees so profoundly in every aspect of contemporary life.

part 1

The Gift of Renewal which the Second Vatican Council made so profoundly present in its rich teachings has been given to mankind in a new and ever-increasing way that must be cherished, nurtured, and developed in ways which have only been insufficiently instantiated by the recent efforts of theologians and philosophers, and which, at the close of my pontificate, I desire to make more fully and more significantly clear in order to leave to my successors that gift from God which is continually manifested in the man which Christ has revealed in His Incarnation.

In the ever-expanding stream of consciousness of modern man, it was the Second Vatican Council that, for the first time, gave us a glimpse into that mystery of the human person that lets us deeply penetrate the concrete existence of each individual as manifested in his daily toils, struggles, and sorrows, with which Christ has identified Himself, especially at His Nativity, which I have rightly labeled the “feast of man,” as it, in a certain sense, reveals man to himself. It is precisely the human experience AS LIVED that the Council prepared the way to be reflected upon in an ever-new manner that must continually purify and renew itself in order to tackle the context of man’s personhood which man experiences now in the modern world.

The challenges that men face in the context of modernity are often experienced as particular hardships which, more than anything else, must be closely studied and examined in order to be evaluated in a Christian context that calls for the renewal of principles worked out by theological and ecclesial commissions that have been set up under my authority specifically designed for this task.

Through the Eyes of Faith Pt. 3

Thursday, February 25th, 2010

“Son of Adam, when will you return to me?”

For from the days of your fathers you have departed from my ordinances, and have not kept them: Return to me, and I will return to you, saith the Lord of hosts. And you have said: Wherein shall we return? (Malachias 3:7)

Jesus saith to him: The foxes have holes, and the birds of the air nests: but the son of man hath not where to lay his head. (Matthew 8:20)

I walk upon this earth, not knowing the day and hour when the Lord shall come for my return. I tremble and I fall. I fall over and over again. But I get up. How much longer will the Lord put up with me?

“It has been over 6,000 years, empires have risen and fallen, the appearances of previous generations have only been a brief memory. How much longer will I wait for your return?”

Judge me O God, according to thy justice, according to thy great mercy, blot out my transgression, wash me thoroughly from my sins, for my sins are always before me. (Psalms 50:3)

“I have looked over and over again, in the sons of Adam, with whom I can find shelter, with whom I can dwell. I have been searching for ages, of those in whom I am well pleased. I have watched over you and I have taken care of you. I have seen the day of your birth and watched you grow to manhood. I desire to have you all for myself. But, instead you have put yourself over me. You have chosen the wrong path of selfishness, vanity, and worldliness, pleasing others instead. I have raised you up with my own doctrine. I have kept you safe from the enemy. What have you paid in return?”

For the doctrine of Christ always sustains me, I am filled. No knowledge or teaching of man can bring me salvation. It is useless for me. I am filled with your truth, and only your truth will I find eternal life. Help me, O God, for I am lost without you. I am like a blind man who does not know the way until I see.

“I give you a test, but will you succeed? Man always puts his flesh and self-image before everything spiritual. It is the reason why I sent my Son, to reveal the doctrine of God so that you may find life in me. Son of Adam, it has been over 6,000 years since I waited for your coming into the world. I have been forming your parents and their parents. I remember those who are faithful to me.”

For the prayers of the saints are heard, and the joy is exceedingly wonderful in our ears. The heavens proclaim your glory, and the earth is enkindled with faith. Come, enliven me with eternal joy and happiness of everlasting glory. Strengthen me with a willing spirit, and take not the Holy Spirit from me.

“Do not forget who you are. You are man by nature, and spiritual by adoption. Persevere in my doctrine, the doctrine handed down by my Church, and you will succeed. Come back to me immediately, after your sinful and miserable life, and you will find rest. Man’s lust and passion after the things of this world are only a short duration of time. They cannot bring them unending happiness. They are fools who are misguided by their animal instinct. That which is enjoyed by the lower beasts entices man’s corrupt and fallen nature; it will bring him death in the end.”

“Only by the spirit and all things spiritual can you approach me.”

“Many go about learning sciences, achieving great discovery, inventing new things, bringing different aspect into the life of man, but what are those vanity achievements without my justification? The hour will soon arrive and the end of all flesh is before me. Man has put himself up as God, disturbing nature and the elements, but I say to you, my time will come when all accomplishments of man shall lay low.”

Through the Eyes of Faith Pt. 2

Sunday, February 21st, 2010

“For as the Father raiseth up the dead, and giveth life: so the Son also giveth life to whom he will.” (Jn 5:21)

“Isn’t it true what Scripture has said? Yes, on account of the merits of the saints and graces dispensed by the Son to whom he wills.”

The teachers and scholars ponder over what has been said.

“Is it not a coincidence that we are here on this night, united together, in this chamber to celebrate the wonderful work and the glory of Our Father? See the many faces around me, all distinct, from the land as far as the East is to the West. See the marvel of God’s plan in the economy of salvation. We are all united, men of different tribes, of different culture, and of different nationality; we are united in Our Lord, Jesus Christ. How beautiful is that? What can be more universal and all-encompassing than the mystical body of God?”

“Think of the angels in Heaven. They did not procreate; they did not have children. Yet, they are diverse and distinct from one another. They come in different ranks and they have different powers. They have different orders and come in different grace. Do you not think the Heavenly Father as the same plan for us?”

“We come in many different background, and we all are incorporated into Christ. Our parents or some distant relative converted to the Faith. This is what it means by the merits of the saints. Not one of you is here without the plan of God beforehand. He knew you before you were born. He brought your souls into existence to the fallen nature in a fallen world. Your parents provide the material form, God provide the spiritual.”

“Do not think that your human nature is by accident. Our mothers conceived us in sin, but God has made us whole again in the glory of His Son. Some of you, as the saints have been blessed, may have been sanctified in the womb like John the Baptist, but all are subject to the New Law in Baptism. We are brothers and sisters in Christ. We are the inheritance of God.”

“And now I turn to you teachers and scholars. Do you not understand how you have come about? How God has formed you? As high as the hierarchy of angels, so too will the kingdom of God on earth be in relation to the Church triumph. Do not think I do not know that your intelligence and your tempered human nature have been molded by God unto perfection. You are the keepers of the doctrine of Our Lord; you hold judgment over the kingdoms of the earth. The higher your office, the greater responsibility you have before God. You do not disappoint us in the lower ranks. We look up to you. Without the Faith, it is impossible to please Our Father. Without love in that Faith, it is impossible to be sanctified.”

“We were all barbarians before our ancestors converted. We were the vagabonds that walked the earth. We were the outcasts and the savages that roamed the land, without a country, without a title. No longer are we of the past man, but have become the new man in Our Lord Jesus Christ. Our lower human nature troubles us, but we are now motivated by the higher spiritual goods. We no longer judge others irrationally or harshly, but have become citizens of the New Law. Our moral conduct is based on the commandments of God. Our laws come from nature and revelation.”

“But, master, are we all equal then?”

“We were born unequal, but our earthly existence will come to an end, until the day of judgment comes. We are equal by the judgment of death, but our sanctity differs on different levels and in different areas. Our personal human nature correspond differently to the grace of God, as God gives us different tests and our temperament and personality are different. Everything is within the mystery of salvation. Some of us are more inclined to goodness than others, some of us have to learn from our mistakes. The merit is the same when we are victorious, but our happiness will depend on close we are like unto God.”

Through the Eyes of Faith

Saturday, February 20th, 2010

As I gaze out the windows with the eyes of faith, I see the beauty and magnificence of creation. I no longer see the present fallen world, but of the former, beautiful and perfection, it once held. No, it is not a direct and absolute vision, but a foretaste of a new earth and a new heaven that will come. Oh, the absolute serenity and peace in the joy and love of God! Time itself seems to slow down. No, time has become irrelevant.

The joy of salvation is here. The human senses have returned to the spiritual life. The soul has been restored. The spirit of the earth reawakens to greet him, and the whole of creation rejoices at the sight of a returned child of Adam. His father once held governance over it all, over the whole earth. He once walked in paradise with God.

The man-child has become as one of us, knowing good and evil, yet he does no evil. Oh, how the protection of God has made him invincible, from sickness to health, from corruption to incorruptibility. How glorified is man when he dwells in God!

I went up to the mountains and pray for 40 days and 40 nights. I fast so that my prayers may be heard by God. I am tempted by the devil and he seduces me to fall away from my faith. I contemplate the shortness of time and the longevity of eternity.

I walk into the city, on to the street down the road, and I see people go about, to and fro, mindful of earthly things, running into obstacles, being stopped on the way by thieves and robbers, taking from them the treasures on the path that leads to God.

I step onto the boat, and sail out to the river. I look at the natural beauty which surrounds me and I give praise to God for having created everything for my delight: “Almighty Father, it is right and just to give you praise and thanks for the wonder of creation. Having created the earth and placing Adam in it to tend and shepherd the whole world, to the glory and perfection of your Name, that you may be glorified in the son of Adam, who, once again, is master over the element and the entire earth, I perform miracles.”

I walk on the water, having faith before me and security in the hands of God. I accomplished. I call to the fishes and they gather. They listen and delight in being in the presence of the son of God and they recognize their master. “God has created you for me and you are the reminder of the love of God for his children. How can you understand without the knowledge of God? You can only recognize and acknowledge the master when he comes to you. Rejoice, man has been restored to perfection and you are delighted to be in his presence.”

I walk back onto the shore, and into the city. I see the lepers and the dying, the sick and the diseased. I have pity on the children of man. “Adam, look at your children and the suffering in the world. Through faith and love in me, I will perform miracles. “Arise and walk, do not be discouraged for the salvation of God is at hand and the kingdom of God is here.” I stand before the tomb of one and announce: “I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life, says the Lord, awake from your sleep!”

I continue down the road and I see a scattered group of sheep, without a shepherd, without a guide. I am taken with compassion. “You wish to be of one fold and of the shepherd, how the Lord has struck the shepherd and you are dispersed!”

My Inheritance

Thursday, February 18th, 2010

Give me strength, give me courage. Be my joy, my consolation. You are my rock in whom I trust. You are my cause of whom I love. Trials and tribulation, I embrace. Suffering and sickness, I befriend. Can there be anything else more pleasing for thee?

Behold, I make all things new, participation in redemptive love. Rise, rise above the human nature. Embrace the sting of persecution, kiss the sweetness of divinity. Oh, for the love of God, justice! Lonely pain and suffering, I beg! Come, take me away.

The silence in apostasy, missions truncated, confusion spreads, pestilence swarms over the face of the earth. From time in eternity, the plan has been ordered. For the endurance of the saints, but who will endure for me? I carry the cross for them. The cross on which they put me to death.

Where is my inheritance? I trace the steps before me. I count all the blessings. I wait in patience for them to console me. The stone wall cries out on the memory of their fathers of long ago, cold and heartless, there is only loneliness and pain for me. I cry in agony, but who will wipe away my tears?

In the time of prosperity, they have had it all! Where are the souls of whom that are promised to me? The fathers and the sons, the men and women, waiting for me at the altar of sacrifice? Where are their teachers? Where are they now? My heart has been pierced with the sword by men. I take the steps, carrying the burden on my body and soul. I hang on the cross, but my soul thirsts. It thirsts for truth and justice, for them that will be born.

Where is the order of men promised to me? Where are my chosen ones? They have left me, patiently awaiting for them, and I wait for their posterity.

I wait, but they won’t come to me. O, humanity, what has become of thee? You cannot produce for me the heirs to my throne?

Who will perform the sacrifice? Who will represent me? Where is my inheritance?

You are my sons, my chosen ones, rise, rise above your human nature and kiss the sweetness of divinity. Accept my offer, and I will make you anew. Do not be worn and torn after the battle has been fought, but accept my suffering as yours. They persecuted the prophets before me, what will they not do to you?

Your dignity and worthy far surpass all the stones of the earth, which God can make into the sons of Abraham. I have made you like unto me. My first order of sons. By nature, you have been restored. By love, you hare been maintained and kept in me. No longer are you a prisoner of your own passion and lust, but have become like angels.

I have forgiven your fathers, will I not forgive you? Your sins are not as high as the heaven is above the earth. Your sins have been lay low, and they are no more to me. Trust in me, and I will make you into a new creation.

I will give you strength and courage. I will be your justification. Where is my inheritance?
